AI app builders promise the same thing: describe an app in plain English and get a working, hosted product back. Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 and Replit all deliver a database, sign-in and a live URL from one chat. Where they differ is how they charge, which backend they lock you into and how easy it is to walk away with your code and your data.
Our verdict: Lovable is the best AI app builder for most people in 2026. Its built-in backend handles the database, sign-in and storage without setup, Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket works even on the free plan, and Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits plus 5 free credits a day. If you already write code or ship on Vercel, pick v0, which builds Next.js apps, works through GitHub branches and pull requests, and connects databases you own through the Vercel Marketplace.
The Short Version
Best overall and best for non-coders: Lovable. Built-in backend, free Git sync, Pro from $25 a month.
Best for developers on Vercel: v0. Next.js output, GitHub pull requests, databases you own. Plus is $30 per user a month.
Best for the most building per dollar: Bolt.new. Pro is $25 a month for 10M tokens with no daily cap, and unused tokens roll over.
Best for bigger apps and mobile: Replit. Agent builds web and native mobile apps, with Postgres and two auth options. Core is $20 a month.

Lovable: the best AI app builder for most people
Lovable is the one to start with if you don't code. You chat, it builds a web app, and when your idea needs accounts, a database or file uploads, it switches on Lovable Cloud on its own. Cloud is built on Supabase's open-source foundation and includes a database, sign-in, storage and edge functions. New projects can use your own Supabase instead.
Pricing runs on credits. Lovable's examples put a small style edit at 0.5 credits and adding sign-in at 1.2. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, or $250 a year, with bigger tiers above that. Every plan also gets 5 free build credits a day; on Free that's capped at 30 a month, while Pro and Business have no monthly cap. Hosting and backend usage draw from the same balance.
Git sync is on every plan, including Free, and Lovable says you own your code and data. Pro adds code editing, code download, custom domains and removes the "Edit with Lovable" badge.
The catch: Lovable Cloud is easy to get into and harder to leave. Lovable's docs say there's no one-click move from Cloud to your own Supabase: you export the data and rebuild the schema in a new project. If you think you'll outgrow it, start on your own Supabase from day one.
Bolt.new: the most building per dollar
Bolt.new, from StackBlitz, gives you the biggest allowance for the price. The free plan includes 300,000 tokens a day, up to 1 million a month. Pro is $25 a month for at least 10 million tokens with no daily limit, and unused tokens roll over for one extra month. Teams is $30 per member a month.
Bolt Cloud covers the backend and hosting. Every project can have a built-in Bolt Database with tables, sign-in, file storage and server functions. On Pro you can pick Supabase when you start a project, connect an existing one, or claim a Bolt Database into your own Supabase account later. Hosting is included on a free .bolt.host address, and Pro adds custom domains and more bandwidth. GitHub sync lets you build in Bolt, edit in GitHub and come back.
The catch: tokens are hard to predict. Bolt explains that most usage comes from syncing your project's files to the AI, so each message costs more as the project grows. Free sites also go offline when they hit the monthly hosting limit and carry a "Made in Bolt" badge.
v0: the best for developers
v0 is Vercel's builder, and it shows. Vercel says it specializes in Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui and the AI SDK, the same stack many front-end teams already use. GitHub sync is on the free plan: v0 works on its own branch, creates preview deployments, runs your CI and publishes through a pull request that respects branch protection.
There's no built-in backend. Instead, v0 offers one-click integrations with Supabase, Neon, Upstash and Vercel Blob through the Vercel Marketplace. Your data lives with a provider you control from day one, which makes v0 the easiest of the four to leave.
The free plan is capped at 7 messages a day. Plus is listed at $30 per user a month and includes $30 of credits plus $2 of free credits each day you log in. Credits are spent per token, at rates that depend on the model you pick.
The catch: v0 assumes Vercel. Deployment goes to Vercel only, and it's the least friendly of the four for someone who doesn't know what a database or environment variable is.
Replit: the best for bigger apps and mobile
Replit is a full cloud development environment with Replit Agent on top, and it reaches further than the others. Agent can build web apps, dashboards and native iOS and Android apps you test on your phone with Expo Go. It sets up a managed Postgres database and file storage, plus sign-in through Replit Auth or Clerk Auth. You can import a GitHub repository and have Agent open a pull request.
Core is $20 a month, or $18 billed yearly, with $20 of credits toward the stronger models and unlimited published apps. Pro is $100 a month, or $90 yearly, with $100 of credits and 10 parallel agents. The free Starter plan's one published app goes down after 30 days.
The catch: publishing, database compute and data transfer are billed on usage from your credits, so a busy app costs more each month. Replit Auth also ties your users to Replit accounts; choose Clerk for anything customer-facing.
What about Cursor and Claude Code?
If you can read code, the better long-term tool may not be an app builder at all. Cursor and Claude Code work on a real project on your own machine, with any framework, database or host you like, and nothing to migrate later. You'll set up hosting and the database yourself. A common path is to prototype in Lovable or v0, sync to GitHub, then continue in one of these. Our Claude Code vs Cursor comparison covers which one fits.
The verdict
Lovable is the best AI app builder for most people in 2026. It turns an idea into a full-stack app with the least setup, its credit pricing is clear about what each task costs, and free Git sync means your code is never trapped.
Choose v0 if you're a developer who wants clean Next.js, pull requests and data you own. Choose Bolt.new for the most building per dollar, and Replit for larger apps or native mobile. For the wider toolkit, see our best AI agent tools guide.
FAQ
Is Lovable better than Bolt.new?
For most non-coders, yes. Lovable's built-in Cloud backend sets up the database, sign-in and storage on its own, and Git sync is free on every plan. Bolt.new gives more usage for the money, with 10 million tokens a month on its $25 Pro plan, but token costs grow as your project gets bigger.
Lovable vs v0: which should I use?
Use Lovable if you don't code and want the backend handled for you. Use v0 if you're a developer: it writes Next.js, works through GitHub pull requests and deploys to Vercel, and its databases come from providers like Supabase and Neon that you control.
What is the best AI app builder in 2026?
Lovable is the best AI app builder for most people in 2026. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits plus 5 free credits a day. v0 is the best pick for developers, and Bolt.new gives the most usage per dollar.
Can I export my code from Lovable, Bolt or v0?
Yes. All three sync to GitHub, and Lovable also supports GitLab and Bitbucket on every plan, with code download on Pro. Data is the harder part: moving off Lovable Cloud means exporting data and rebuilding the schema, while Bolt Pro users can claim their database into their own Supabase account.
What are the best Lovable alternatives?
Bolt.new is the closest alternative for non-coders and costs the same $25 a month. v0 is better for developers on Vercel, and Replit is better for larger apps and native mobile. If you can code, Cursor or Claude Code avoid platform lock-in entirely.
